KIWI to AUSSIE

I was asked to proofread and research on the report about a KIWI migrating to Australia. I made some corrections on few of the lines and checked for dead links. It's so simple as you may think but it takes quite time to read and see all the links either they are working or not. If not, you need to check for relevant links that you may replace. This is one of the examples I have done. :P

Project from Abel [Australia]

• DO I NEED A VISA?

I’m a New Zealand Passport Holder/I’m a New Zealand Citizen

Generally, if you are a NZ Passport Holder/have NZ Citizenship (NOT NZ ‘Residency’) then you can live and work in Australia till forever ;-) When you enter Australia, you will be electronically assigned a Special Category Visa (SCV) and that’s the end of that.

(NOTE: There are exceptions however, one being if you have criminal convictions or serious medical conditions, these will be covered in the FAQ section near the back of this report)

What’s the deal with Australian Permanent Residency?

Again, if you have a NZ Passport/ a NZ Citizen & want to live and work in Australia, you do not need permanent residency.

You will however need permanent residency though if you’re planning on one of the following…

• Intending to become an Australian Citizen
• Intending to sponsor members of your family with their applications for permanent residency
• Intending on applying for certain social security benefits. By this I’m talking about things like the ‘dole’ (called the ‘Newstart Allowance’) sickness/pension and a range of other benefits.

(NOTE: For more info on these benefits please go to http://www.centrelink.gov.au
